Registration Tips

Everything you need to register for a program

First time registering? Here's how accounts work, what to bring, and when your registration window opens.

How to Register

01

Create Your Account

Visit the recreation center at 536 East Avenue to set up a household account in person or start the process online. If you're new to online registration but you've registered with us before or have a membership, you already have an account in our system. Use the forgot username or forgot password option for access. New users can simply complete their household and family member information. Staff will review the account information and send a confirming email that your account is active within 72 hours.

02

Verify Residency

Bring a valid photo ID and current utility bill to verify your address. Online users can conveniently upload the documents when creating their household. Residency determines your pricing tier: resident, neighborhood network, or non-resident.

03

Register During Your Window

Resident registration opens first each season. Non-residents register approximately one week later. Check the brochure for exact dates.

Registration Windows

Park District of La Grange staggers registration so district residents get first access to programs. Non-residents are welcome, and there's usually still space, but registering during the resident window is the surest way to get your spot. Remember to create your household account several days in advance of opening day.

Resident

Opens first. Village of La Grange residents with verified address on file.

Neighborhood Network

Opens approximately one week after resident registration. NN communities include La Grange Park, La Grange Highlands, Brookfield, Western Springs, Countryside, and McCook. NN rates are only 10% higher than resident rates.

Non-Resident

Opens approximately one week after resident registration. All remaining spaces are open.

Exact dates vary by season. Check the current brochure for this season's registration schedule.

Proof of Residency

To receive resident or neighborhood network pricing, you must verify your address at the Park District of La Grange office. Bring one of the following:

  • Driver's license or state ID with current La Grange or neighborhood network (NN) address
  • Recent utility bill (gas, electric, water) in your name at a La Grange or NN address
  • Signed lease agreement or mortgage statement
  • Official government mail addressed to you at your legal address
  • Upload your residency documents when you create your account online and skip the trip to the recreation center

Once verified, your residency status is saved to your account. You won't need to bring documentation every time you register, only when your address changes.

Program Conduct & Behavior Management

Program Code of Conduct

To ensure enjoyable and safe programs for all participants, the Park District of La Grange has developed a behavior code. Participants shall:

  • Show respect to all participants and staff.
  • Refrain from using foul language.
  • Refrain from causing bodily harm.
  • Show respect to equipment, supplies, and facilities.

Additional rules are developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.

Behavior Management Procedure

When a participant has trouble following expectations in park district programs, Park District staff will verbally request the behavior be discontinued. If behavior continues, staff will remove the child from the activity for "quiet time." If a participant has difficulty following expectations daily, a parent will be contacted and a meeting will be scheduled with the appropriate Park District staff. If a child continues to have trouble following expectations and the above procedures have been followed, a parent will be contacted and requested to remove the child from the program for a designated period of time. In extreme cases of unacceptable behavior that is physically threatening to the safety of other participants or staff, the Park District reserves the right to immediately remove a participant from a program.

Refunds & Cancellations

Standard Refund Policy

We understand that plans can change. Program participants may withdraw from most programs seven days prior to the start of the program by calling the office at 708-352-1762 or emailing pdlginfo@pdlg.org. A $5 processing fee is deducted from all refunds.

Unique Refund Protocols

BASE, preschool, summer camps, athletic leagues, travel teams, memberships, and facility rentals have unique refund request deadlines and protocols.

Program Cancellation by the Park District

If the park district cancels a program due to insufficient enrollment, weather, or facility issues, all registered participants receive a full refund automatically. No action is required from participants.

Medical Withdrawals

Participants who need to withdraw due to injury or illness may be eligible for a prorated refund with documentation from a healthcare provider. Contact the park district office to discuss your situation.

Transfers and Credits

When available, the park district can transfer your enrollment to another session or program or issue an account credit in lieu of a refund.

Refund Methods

Payments made by credit/debit card will be refunded back to the card used for purchase. Payments made using cash or check will be refunded by mailed check made payable to the original payee within 7-10 days.
